Still research it because you’ll need it for the next tier. If you’re driving the Stug, make sure to research HEAT rounds asap and then equip those. Problem is, the velocity is really low and your standard ammo sucks. It has great armour (on the front) and an alright gun. Do note that T50s and T70s still make for your worst possible targets though. So, research it, equip it with APCBC rounds and then hunt tanks. What makes the 38t A the most fun tank of the tier is the ammo-selection though-unlike the Pz 3 E, it has access to APCBC rounds and they make this tank one of the more deadly ones at T1. In combination with the speed and size, this allows for quickly approaching targets and keeping the gun on them. It’s a very compact tank with okay speed, a gun that’s alright for the tier and has great traversal. It’s not hopeless, as there are two standouts on the German side, at least for me. The Russian tanks in this tier are mostly excellent because of their great armour/angle and decent guns with really fast reloads. APCR and HE should be avoided and HEAT should be used when you’re fighting at very long ranges (= Kursk). Overall, APCBC is the most desirable ammo type. Sure, that high penetration number looks tempting, but it’s really not worth it in most cases because APCR trades damage for penetration-so even successful hits often don’t result in sufficiently severe damage. As I have only progressed to T3, I’m not going to cover T4/5 yet.Īs a general note, make sure to stay away from APCR unless there is a tank that you really can't crack. This is basically intended as an overview/guide for people that are starting out with the German tanks and are not sure what to research, which is why I’ll mostly focus on tank choice and not tactics. I like SB, but unfortunately the player numbers are so low now that I’m back to playing mostly RB and AB. I’ve been playing Ground Forces for a while now and I’m mostly enjoying it. No idea what the current early T3/T2/T1 situation is# I did add the T4 section and updated the T3 section slightly though.
